CVE-2024-1179
CVE-2024-1179: A critical vulnerability exists in TP-Link Omada ER605 routers, enabling remote code execution. This stack-based buffer overflow in the DHCPv6 client options allows attackers to execute arbitrary code. The TP-Link Omada ER605 router vulnerability (CVE-2024-1179) stems from insufficient validation of user-supplied data length when handling DHCP options, potentially leading to a buffer overflow. An attacker on the same network can exploit this without authentication to run code with root privileges. Despite a CVSS score of 0, the SOCRadar Vulnerability Risk Score (SVRS) is 30 indicating there may be exploits available. Immediate patching is recommended if the SVRS increases as successful exploitation leads to full system compromise. This vulnerability poses a significant security risk to affected TP-Link Omada ER605 router users.
