CVE-2024-8553 in Foreman allows unauthorized data access. This vulnerability permits authenticated users with template creation privileges to read arbitrary fields from the Foreman database, bypassing intended access controls. Although the CVSS score is 6.3, indicating a medium severity, the SOCRadar Vulnerability Risk Score (SVRS) of 30 suggests a relatively lower immediate risk compared to critical vulnerabilities. However, the potential for sensitive data exposure remains a concern. The flaw originates in the loader macros used with report templates, where specific strings can be exploited to circumvent permission checks. Successful exploitation enables unauthorized information disclosure. Organizations using Foreman should apply necessary patches to mitigate the risk of unauthorized data access.
