Executive Summary

Storm listed Patriot Maritime (patriotmaritime[.]com) as a victim on its ransomware leak site on October 19, 2026, a claim SOCRadar identified through direct observation of the group’s leak portal. Patriot Maritime is a United States-based transportation company that manages and operates Ready Reserve Force ships and commercial cargo vessels for US federal agencies and commercial clients. That federal fleet-management role gives the company a profile that extortion-driven operators find attractive: its operations sit at the intersection of government logistics and commercial shipping, where service disruption carries immediate operational and contractual consequences and where ties to federal agencies heighten the pressure to restore systems quickly. The listing fits Storm’s known targeting pattern closely. The group conducts US-only targeting with a consistent focus on transportation, logistics, and critical-sector operators that depend on federal or commercial infrastructure, favoring mid-size companies that face high operational pressure to restore systems quickly — classic ransomware leverage conditions that Patriot Maritime’s federally linked shipping operations fall squarely within. The October 19, 2026 release was a multi-victim event: Baltimore Tank Lines and Merit Financial Group were listed simultaneously by Storm on the same day, underscoring an active publishing cadence against US organizations spanning transportation and other critical sectors.

Technical Analysis

As part of its exposure assessment, SOCRadar ran a stealer-log telemetry query against patriotmaritime[.]com. The query returned zero records, meaning no credentials associated with the domain were found in the infostealer datasets queried — no positive infostealer indicator was identified. This result carries important limitations: the query was bounded and paginated, credentials may exist under alternate corporate domains or personal email aliases, and records may be present in feeds that were not captured in this check. A zero-record result should therefore not be read as confirmation that Patriot Maritime is unaffected; it reflects only what was visible in the sampled datasets at the time of the query, and credentials residing outside the queried feeds could still exist. Patriot Maritime’s federal contracts add an exposure dimension that extends beyond credential telemetry. If federal agency systems or communications were accessible through compromised Patriot Maritime infrastructure, downstream notification obligations to those agencies may apply. The recommended course of action includes engaging incident response, notifying relevant federal contacts in accordance with contractual requirements, and reviewing all network segmentation between federal-client systems and corporate infrastructure. Because the negative telemetry result does not rule out exposure elsewhere, continued dark web and stealer-log monitoring, proactive credential-hygiene checks such as password rotation, and monitoring of alternate corporate domains that could be associated with Patriot Maritime personnel are prudent follow-up measures.
